Charles Dawson, President & Director of Operations
Charles has designed, coordinated, managed and/or installed more than 10,000,000 square feet of artificial turf. These installations include such high profile projects as the NFL Challenge Field in the Cayman Islands, the indoor practice facility for the UCLA Bruins, Red Wolf Stadium, home of the Arkansas State University Red Wolves, McNeese State University’s Cowboy Stadium, the University of San Diego, the baseball field, the football field as well as the softball field at the University of Central Arkansas, Vanderbilt University's baseball field and Henderson State University's Ruggles Field. Charles was also a member of the design team that developed the first synthetic turf running track in the world, GeoTrax, and handled the first North American Installation at Zachary (LA) High School. Additionally, he advanced the technology of the PATENTED GeoFlo drainage blanket and continues to work as a valuable consultant to the manufacturers of the GeoFlo dynamic drainage blanket. Ray Fritz, Vice President of Operations
Ray has a wealth of construction knowledge and installation expertise and is one of the original members of the GeoSurfaces' team. Ray has installed such high profile jobs as the NFL Challenge Field in the Cayman Islands, Arkansas State University, Vanderbilt University, multiple fields for the University of Central Arkansas, the University of San Diego, McNeese State University, Henderson State University, fields for New York Central Park, UCLA as well as 350,000 square feet of turf for the Anchorage School System in Alaska. Ray has installed over four million square feet of high school and municipal fields. Ray has unmatched expertise in the design and installation of vertical-to-horizontal drainage mat installations and continues to be a valuable installation and design consultant to the manufacturer of the GeoFlo drainage blanket.
Dan O’Connell, Professional Engineer
Dan has been a part of the GeoSurfaces team for over six years and has over 20 years experience as a Professional Engineer. Dan is a civil engineer and certified soil specialist. He performs all aspects of design, including site planning, drainage design and analysis, and can perform roadway, sewer design, traffic analysis, and subsurface disposal system design on any project site with these needs. Dan is also experienced in preparing plans and applications for wetlands permits. Dan’s expertise also includes percolation tests, soil profile tests, and site evaluations. He provides construction supervision, inspection, and layout services and will be the on staff engineer that would present projects at regulatory meetings and public hearings. Dan has performed athletic facility design, from conceptual layout to final design and prepares all of the GeoSurfaces manufacturing control plans for our GeoGreen artificial turf materials and our GeoTrax running tracks.
Mark Roussel, Construction Manager
Mark is a base construction specialist and oversees all of the construction processes completed before the installation of the artificial turf. He has constructed bases for Zachary (LA) High School, St. Thomas More (LA) High School, Arkansas State University, McNeese State University (LA), the University of Central Arkansas, Henderson State University (AR) Mart (TX) ISD, Valley View (TX) ISD, Bishop Hartley (OH) High School, Bishop Hendricken (RI) High School, Atlanta’s Woodward Academy, Teurlings Catholic High School (LA), Parkview Baptist High School (LA), St. Thomas More High School (LA) as well as many others. Mark is in charge of the demolition crews as well as all drainage, anchorage and final grade portions of the base construction.
Cody Schlemmer, Installation Supervisor
Cody joined the GeoSurfaces team in 2007 and has quickly moved up the corporate ladder. With the completion of 15 projects on his resume, Cody serves as the installation supervisor and handles the scheduling and transportation of the on site installation crew as well as field set up and layout. His specialty is custom seaming and shearing work needed to layout and install custom logos, lettering and other markings.
Steve Smetana, Project Coordinator
Steve has been with the team since 2005. After a stint as a pitcher in professional baseball, Steve joined GeoSurfaces as an area sales manager. In addition to his sales duties, Steve also specializes in the logistics and installation of indoor arenas with an area of less than 20,000 square feet. Joe Rodriguez, Project Coordinator, Caribbean and Latin America
Joe is the newest member of the GeoSurfaces team and handles all inquiries in the Caribbean and Latin American regions. After retiring from professional baseball in 2010, Joe has begun to build the GeoSurfaces brand internationally. Joe has been invaluable in building relationships with the Roberto Clemente Group in Puerto Rico and coordinating upcoming projects throughout the region. Prior to joining the GeoSurfaces team, Joe made his Major League debut in 2000 with the St. Louis Cardinals and was a teammate of Mark McGwire during his historic 70 home run season. Tracy Moore, Midwest Project Coordinator
Tracy has worked his way up the ladder in the turf industry. From his beginning as an installer almost 10 years ago to expertise in the project management of more than 20 projects, Tracy know what it takes to organize and manage artificial turf projects. His currently manages the Midwest United States including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana.
Lee Herrington, Legal Counsel
Lee has been the Professional Counsel for GeoSurfaces since its inception. He handles all facets of contracting, surety, trademark or tradename registrations as well as patent applications and all licensing applications necessary to allow us to work across the country and in some cases internationally. Lee received his J.D. from Louisiana State University and was admitted to the Bar in 1978. He is currently licensed to practice in all Louisiana State, District, Appeal and Supreme Courts as well as the United States District Courts located in Louisiana and United States Court of Appeal and Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association and Louisiana State Bar Association.
Kelli Lynn, Accounting
Kelli is one of the original team members for Global Synthetics Environmental. She handles all accounts payable, receivable and travel schedules for the GeoSurfaces team. Kelli handles material production orders and logistics. She is also involved in contracts and handles all IT for the company. She can be reached at klynn@geosurfaces.com .
